At PWS Medical Pumps, our mission extends far beyond delivering equipment. We believe that proper support means helping every patient feel comfortable, confident, and cared for as they begin using their compression pump at home. Our Community Liaisons are at the heart of that mission.
Recently, we received a touching message from a patient, S. Baker, who shared:
“The pump is fantastic and so is Ms. Tiffany who delivered it. She keeps in contact with me regularly since they were delivered about 2 weeks ago. The best ever!”

Messages like this reflect what our team works for every day—a patient experience rooted in human connection, communication, and confidence.
The Role of Community Liaisons at PWS
Every patient’s journey is unique, but our approach remains consistent: clear guidance, compassionate support, and reliable follow-through.
Our Community Liaisons help patients feel prepared at every step—from delivery to daily use.
Walking Patients Through Their First Session: Start to Finish
Beginning compression therapy at home can feel unfamiliar, but our liaisons make the process simple and reassuring. Their focus is on device education and comfort—not medical advice.
Here’s what a typical first session looks like:
1. Setting Up the Space
Before starting, the liaison helps ensure the patient’s environment feels calm and safe by reviewing:
Where the pump should be placed
How sleeves or garments are positioned
How tubing connects securely
Basic comfort considerations like seating and posture
Patients immediately feel more at ease when everything is set up correctly.
2. Reviewing the Device Together
Next, the liaison walks the patient through the pump itself—slowly, clearly, and without pressure.
They explain:
How to power the device on
What each button or setting does
How to adjust comfort levels
What normal sensations may feel like from a device perspective
This avoids confusion and replaces worry with clarity.
3. Starting the First Pump Session
When the patient feels ready, the liaison guides them through the first session:
Confirming correct garment placement
Helping initiate the session
Remaining present (in person or virtually)
Checking comfort and clarity throughout
Having a trained, encouraging person by their side makes the experience feel safe and manageable.
4. Monitoring and Reassuring Throughout
During the session, the liaison:
Answers questions
Normalizes what the device is doing
Helps the patient understand the process step-by-step
Offers calm reassurance
This kind of real-time support reduces fear and builds long-term confidence.
5. Ending the Session and Reviewing What Comes Next
After the session, the liaison reviews:
How to power off the pump
Proper storage
Cleaning and maintenance steps
What to expect moving forward
Who to reach out to with questions
We constantly reinforce that any clinical questions or usage frequency should be directed to the patient’s licensed healthcare provider.
6. Follow-Up Support That Makes a Difference
One thing patients repeatedly praise is how our liaisons stay in touch. Whether it’s a quick check-in, answering a device question, or simply offering encouragement, this ongoing support makes patients feel seen—not forgotten.
Why This Approach Matters
Compression therapy can feel overwhelming at first. But with a knowledgeable, caring liaison guiding the way, patients quickly learn that they are not alone. Confidence grows. Stress decreases. And patients feel empowered to use their device comfortably and consistently.
This is what defines the PWS experience: equipment delivery with heart, clarity, and genuine support.
